Cummins C2000 D5 P — 2000 kVA Diesel Generator
Large manufacturing plants — at Motherson's Chakan plant we engineered and erected the 30 m exhaust stack serving the plant's own 2000 kVA set
What it powers
Large manufacturing plants — at Motherson's Chakan plant we engineered and erected the 30 m exhaust stack serving the plant's own 2000 kVA set
Campus and plant standby where one machine must carry the entire essential bus without paralleling
Anchor set in synchronised banks feeding MW-class loads, with Masterless Load Demand printed standard on the PowerCommand controller
Ratings this size are engineered purchases, not catalogue picks — load profile, redundancy and synchronisation decide the configuration. Send the load list and we size it free.

Transcribed from the Cummins India technical document for the C2000 D5 P. Ratings are prime power per ISO 8528; site conditions can derate output. Manufacturers revise documents — the current Cummins datasheet and your work order govern; ask us for the current sheet. Dimensions are for the open set; acoustic treatment is engineered per site.
Above 800 kW
Engines above 800 kW sit outside CPCB IV+ under the MoEFCC's separate standards — with their own stack-height regime (30-metre class structures), acoustic treatment engineered per site rather than a factory canopy, and consent conditions that decide the installation. We have delivered exactly this — six 1010 kVA sets with three 30 m stacks for the Reserve Bank of India — and the installation engineering is part of the offer, not an afterthought.
Buying, the way we run it
One purchase order: supply, installation, testing, commissioning.
- Sized from your load list — starting current and step loads, not nameplate totals
- Installation engineering included in the offer — foundations, exhaust, cabling, panels
- Commissioned on load, handed over with documentation
- Serviced afterwards by the team that runs its own 80-set fleet
How buying works, step by step, is on the Cummins range page — and AMC cover can start the day the warranty ends.
2000 kVA, answered
Frequently asked questions
Is this the prime-rated or standby-rated 2000 kVA Cummins?
This page is the prime-rated C2000 D5 P on the QSK60 G4 engine — varying load, unlimited hours per ISO 8528 with the 10% overload allowance. Cummins India has also published a standby-rated C2000 D5 on the KTA50-G21, a different machine with a narrower duty envelope. Ask any vendor which one their quote actually is.
Can the 2000 kVA set supply high-tension voltage?
Yes — the Cummins sheet lists 415 V standard with 3.3 kV, 6.6 kV and 11 kV options, factory-configured with HT alternator frames (Class F insulation on HT). HT supply brings transformer, switchgear and protection engineering into the project scope — which is exactly the turnkey work we quote alongside the set.
What fuel consumption does the sheet print for 2000 kVA?
For the radiator-cooled configuration: 291 L/hr at 75% load and 390 L/hr at full load, on diesel of 0.85 specific gravity per IS:1460 with a +5% tolerance. The standard scope includes a 990-litre free-standing external tank — at this burn rate, bulk fuel storage and day-tank design are part of the installation, and we engineer them.
Which emission rules govern a 2000 kVA genset?
Above 800 kW the set sits outside CPCB IV+ — the MoEFCC’s separate large-engine standards apply, and the stack is its own engineered structure under the >800 kW rule (maximum of 14×Q^0.3, building plus 6 m, or 30 m). Consent conditions decide the final installation; the compliance engineering is included in our turnkey scope.
