Cummins C2250 D5 P — 2250 kVA Diesel Generator
MW-class industrial and infrastructure loads, run as a single prime-rated set or as a synchronised pair sharing one bus
What it powers
MW-class industrial and infrastructure loads, run as a single prime-rated set or as a synchronised pair sharing one bus
High-tension sites — the sheet lists factory HT options at 3.3, 6.6 and 11 kV on this rating, with HT alternator frames
Continuous-process plants that need prime-rated headroom above 2000 kVA without stepping to a multi-set bank
Ratings this size are engineered purchases, not catalogue picks — load profile, redundancy and synchronisation decide the configuration. Send the load list and we size it free.

Transcribed from the Cummins India technical document for the C2250 D5 P. Ratings are prime power per ISO 8528; site conditions can derate output. Manufacturers revise documents — the current Cummins datasheet and your work order govern; ask us for the current sheet. Dimensions are for the open set; acoustic treatment is engineered per site.
Above 800 kW
Engines above 800 kW sit outside CPCB IV+ under the MoEFCC's separate standards — with their own stack-height regime (30-metre class structures), acoustic treatment engineered per site rather than a factory canopy, and consent conditions that decide the installation. We have delivered exactly this — six 1010 kVA sets with three 30 m stacks for the Reserve Bank of India — and the installation engineering is part of the offer, not an afterthought.
Buying, the way we run it
One purchase order: supply, installation, testing, commissioning.
- Sized from your load list — starting current and step loads, not nameplate totals
- Installation engineering included in the offer — foundations, exhaust, cabling, panels
- Commissioned on load, handed over with documentation
- Serviced afterwards by the team that runs its own 80-set fleet
How buying works, step by step, is on the Cummins range page — and AMC cover can start the day the warranty ends.
2250 kVA, answered
Frequently asked questions
Is the Cummins 2250 kVA rating prime or standby?
This page is the prime-rated C2250 D5 P on the QSK60 G8 — varying load, unlimited hours per ISO 8528, 10% overload per ISO 3046. Cummins India has also published a standby-rated C2250 D5S on the QSK60 G4; the two are different machines with different duty envelopes, so always confirm the rating basis printed on the offer.
Can the 2250 kVA set be paralleled with other gensets?
Yes — the PowerCommand PC 3.3 controller ships with Masterless Load Demand printed standard on this rating, and synchronising is how most 2250 kVA installations actually run: paired sets sharing one bus, capacity added in steps, one machine serviceable while the rest carry the site. Our panels practice engineers the bus, breakers and protections.
What does the 2250 kVA set consume at load?
The Cummins sheet prints 331 L/hr at 75% load and 441 L/hr at full load for the radiator-cooled configuration, on 0.85 SG diesel per IS:1460 with +5% tolerance. Fuel logistics at this scale — bulk storage, transfer pumps, day tanks — are engineered as part of the turnkey installation, not left to the operator.
What compliance work does a 2250 kVA installation involve?
The set sits above 800 kW, outside CPCB IV+, under the MoEFCC’s separate large-engine standards — which bring the engineered stack rule (maximum of 14×Q^0.3, building plus 6 m, or 30 m), site acoustic treatment instead of a factory canopy, and consent conditions that govern the final design. All of it is in our turnkey scope.
