What kind of DG sets do you buy?
Diesel gensets from 25 kVA to 1250 kVA, any make — Cummins, Kirloskar, Mahindra Powerol, Ashok Leyland, Greaves, Caterpillar, Perkins and others. The engine must have been manufactured on or after 1 July 2004. We are set up for Maharashtra and the neighbouring districts; further afield we still look, but transport is quoted as its own line rather than buried in the offer.
Will you buy a set made before July 2004?
No, and no reputable buyer should. Under the CPCB RECD procedure, engines manufactured and installed before 1 July 2004 are to be scrapped — not sold, not re-sited, not run — and no retrofit changes that. If your set is from that era we will tell you so, explain why the only lawful route is scrapping, and we will not put it back into the market through a side door.
How do you decide what my set is worth?
Rating and make set the bracket; year of engine manufacture, verified running hours, the last overhaul and what it actually covered, alternator condition on megger, whether it is open or acoustic, and whether an RECD is fitted move it within that bracket. Lifting access matters more than sellers expect — a set that needs a road closure and a 100-tonne crane is worth less in your yard than the same set at ground level.
Do you buy sets that are not running?
Yes, and we will say plainly which category yours falls into. A set with a seized engine but a healthy alternator and a good canopy is worth real money for its parts and its enclosure. A set that is corroded through is worth its weight and nothing more, and we would rather tell you that than let you find out after three weeks of hoping.
Who arranges dismantling, craneage and transport?
We do, on our own account, when we buy the set. That covers disconnection, exhaust and cable removal, breaking the foundation where required, craneage and road transport. If you only need the set removed and are not selling it to us, we quote that as a standalone job rather than folding it into a purchase price.
Why sell to a genset company rather than a scrap dealer?
A scrap dealer values your set as metal, because metal is what they can resell. We value it as a machine that may have ten years of service left, which is a different and usually larger number. The honest exception is a set too old or too far gone to return to service — in that case scrap genuinely is the right answer, and we will say so rather than lowball you on a resale basis.
