What it powers
Standby cover for utility-fed plants with a reliable grid and defined outage exposure — the duty this rating is certified for
N+1 emergency capacity at large campuses, paired with prime-rated sets that carry the routine running
One step below our range-topping 2750 kVA standby set — often the availability sweet spot at MW scale
Ratings this size are engineered purchases, not catalogue picks — load profile, redundancy and synchronisation decide the configuration. Send the load list and we size it free.

Transcribed from the Cummins India technical document for the C2500 D5S. Ratings are prime power per ISO 8528; site conditions can derate output. Manufacturers revise documents — the current Cummins datasheet and your work order govern; ask us for the current sheet. Dimensions are for the open set; acoustic treatment is engineered per site.
Above 800 kW
Engines above 800 kW sit outside CPCB IV+ under the MoEFCC's separate standards — with their own stack-height regime (30-metre class structures), acoustic treatment engineered per site rather than a factory canopy, and consent conditions that decide the installation. We have delivered exactly this — six 1010 kVA sets with three 30 m stacks for the Reserve Bank of India — and the installation engineering is part of the offer, not an afterthought.
Buying, the way we run it
One purchase order: supply, installation, testing, commissioning.
- Sized from your load list — starting current and step loads, not nameplate totals
- Installation engineering included in the offer — foundations, exhaust, cabling, panels
- Commissioned on load, handed over with documentation
- Serviced afterwards by the team that runs its own 80-set fleet
How buying works, step by step, is on the Cummins range page — and AMC cover can start the day the warranty ends.
2500 kVA, answered
Frequently asked questions
Why is the 2500 kVA Cummins a standby rating?
Cummins India publishes the C2500 D5S as Standby Power per ISO 8528 — the sheet defines it for varying load during interruption of a reliable utility source, for a maximum of 500 hours per year. If your site needs prime or continuous duty at this scale, the honest engineering answer is usually a synchronised bank of prime-rated sets, and we quote both ways.
What is the largest generator Power Solutions supplies?
Our range runs one step higher — the standby-rated C2750D5B at 2750 kVA on the QSK60-G22. Beyond single sets, the answer is a synchronised bank of prime-rated machines on one bus, which is how MW-scale sites usually run anyway, for redundancy as much as capacity. Tell us the duty and we quote both ways.
What does the 2500 kVA set consume on load?
The Cummins sheet prints 368 L/hr at 75% load and 496 L/hr at full load for the radiator-cooled configuration, on diesel of 0.85 specific gravity per IS:1460, +5% tolerance. At roughly 500 litres an hour flat out, fuel storage, transfer and day-tank engineering are a core part of the installation design — included in our turnkey scope.
Which rules govern a 2500 kVA genset installation?
Above 800 kW the set is outside CPCB IV+ — the MoEFCC’s large-engine standards govern, the stack is an engineered structure under the >800 kW rule (maximum of 14×Q^0.3, building plus 6 m, or 30 m), acoustic treatment is designed per site, and your consent to operate has the final word. We deliver the compliance engineering with the set.
